The Guirey Residence | 1942
Architect: Fred Guirey FAIA
Builder: Fred Guirey FAIA
Remodel:Trades Unlimited and Miko LLC in 2014
Completion: 75%
Style: Japanese Inspired Modern Rambler
Our guests last explored this home when it was in time-capsule condition following the passing of Fred Guirey’s widow, Tat. Much to the horror of the preservation community, an unsympathetic buyer painted all of the interior wood white. The home’s third owner has worked to bring the interior back to life by painstakingly removing the paint from the ceiling. The generous use of redwood and glass distinguishes this house built for entertaining clients and friends. The home has been reconfigured for a large family and the former bar has been turned into a craft and media room. Artwork and custom furniture created by the owner pairs well with classic modern treasures.
