Ludke House | 1952
By Alfred Newman Beadle
In 1952 Al Beadle designed the Mrs. Henry Ludke Jr. House for a widow and her several children. Featured in a 50s era issue of American Home Magazine, the home wraps around an outdoor atrium, significantly enhancing its modest 2200 square feet. The original board and batten materials remain, as does an early variant of the sunflap on the roof that Beadle would use throughout his career. One would never suspect from the paint job today that the front door was once flamingo pink!
