University Park Motor Hotel aka Palm Terrace in Tempe
by Alfred Newman Beadle
Located just a short walk away from Arizona State University, the original plan for these apartments were to be a convenient motor hotel near campus. Generous and green open space between the facing patios remains the heart of the "university park" concept. Curious metal chains are spaced between patio areas, a detail seen consistently in other buildings as well. Their function as rain chains seems unlikely given their position mid-eave.
