    Mark Mussari

    Verner Panton

    | Free

    Copenhagen Imports
    MAP IT!

Join Mark Mussari for a talk about Verner Panton’s innovative designs which used Pop and Op Art as inspirations and employed many new, synthetic materials. More importantly, Panton moved Danish Modern away from the traditional wood furniture that had made it world-famous. Instead, he made “modern” furniture contemporary again, especially in his use of colors and patterns reflecting the psychedelic styles of the 1960s. In this way, every space Panton designed was a “happening”—an encounter with design driving every element of environment. He submerged visitors in color and pattern. Free with RSVP. Light apps and drinks will be served.

  • Integrating Scale in Modern Neighborhoods

    For(u)m + AIA

    scale

    5 - 8pm | $10

    AIA Phoenix Metro
    MAP IT!

This panel will examine the increasing tensions facing the first- and second-ring suburbs of the Valley, as the pressure to densify forces a reckoning on preservation and adaptation for a rapidly-growing population. In areas such as Arcadia, major thoroughfares like 40th and 44th Street have long featured small- and mid-sized apartment complexes, and unique commercial, at the edges of largely-residential districts. But as the multifamily construction boom leads to teardowns and PUDs in these areas, how do we ensure that we think both locally and regionally in development patterns for the metro area? LFA For(u)m and AIA members receive discounted admission.
