Jenny's
Alt. Sp. Genny's

The MCM and legendarily Gay Denny's at 7th St. and Camelback. Just... well known as that for years and years.

(and yes, that's OUR local Denny's)

Is there slang for the Gay Target at 7th Ave and Camelback? Gayget? Tar-Gay? (hard G, not soft French zg).

Bad-on

A contraction of the words "bad" and "add-on" referring to a poorly executed addition to a home, most likely done by an inexperienced homeowner or fly-by-night contractor.

"Look over there at the bad-on they put on that SoSco house!"

Thought of some new terms over the weekend by accident:

DoSco-downtown Scottsdale
Look at all the condos they are building in DoSco.

DoPho-downtown Phoenix
I know some MoPhoes who live in DoPho...they love the urban lifestyle!
Search our site for mid-century modern (Haver, Beadle, Allied, etc) & historic homes.

Thanks for posting that, DG. The word tolerance has been floating around in my head a lot these days as perhaps the easiest way to get by on these boards. Unlike politeness, which can take some degree of tact and eloquence to express, tolerance doesn't take a lot of energy or intelligence to practice. All it takes is endurance, on on its most fundamental level the ability to let it go...

Haver-molestor
Any purchaser, flipper or long term owner of a Haver home who decides a great idea would be to bastardize and strip the architectural integrity from the original design of the home.

ie: "Sally wife, I have a crazy thought- I think we should wall in that silly carport and use it for the extra square footage! -Just watch our value climb!"
"You're the king Johnny husband! -That's why I married you!"

and:

"Hey babe- let's take some acid tonight and wall up those sloped floor to ceiling windows. -Then, we can take another hit and put in some little Home Depot squared ones- it'll look really coooooolll....."

Haver Saver
A homeowner or steward committed to maintaining the general integrity of a Haver Home.

Haver Graver

A homeowner or developer, more often that not under-informed, determined to do whatever they want with the place.

Haver Slaver
A homeowner or developer, more often informed than most, that is determined to do what they think the real estate market wants.

Ben and Melissa-
Verb describing the intense Modern rennovation process in taking an existing bland, drab home and transforming it into blissful visual eye-candy. The name stems from the Modern Phoenix members who are responsible for this:

ie: "Hey congratulations there kid! -You just bought a pile of shit- good job!"
(answers) "Yeah, while wait til I Ben and Melissa this son' bitch and then come talking your trash!"
