Fine Living has a very media-savvy approach to programming in the age of TiVo. Matthew and I are both huge TiVo users and are used to zapping through commercials with the click of a button. However Fine Living has a form of info-tising that blends information with small and unobtrusive but blantant advertising. On one hand I am enraged at the clever workaround TiVo, but on the other, being a designer interested in marketing, it is very exciting to see this medium morph the way it has despite my repulsion. Am I a sellout if I watch a segment on organic vegetables sponsored by Hidden Valley Ranch? It makes me feel so dirty... ;-D
