What a great site!

I hope I'm posting this ok. Though I currently live in Las Vegas and am undertaking redoing a mid 1970s house here, I was born and raised in Phoenix. We lived at 40th Street south of Thomas. I got to see both Tower Plaza and Thomas Mall being built. They both started from cow pastures. And their respective make overs. I get to celebrate my "mid-century" mark next year.

Wanted to say this is a fantastic site. A friend of mine just sent me the link. I'm glad to see some preservation of what was the old and wonderful Phoenix that I remember growing up.

The classic scene may be somewhere around here. Actually more toward our downtown area. I was transfered here 6 years ago. Though I had visited Las Vegas, for the most part, I did the tourist stuff. With all the buzz about the "Rat Pack" I assumed there would be large sections of town, much like Phoenix or Palm Springs that would have 50s-60s homes, apartments, etc.

My realtor was very good and showed me those areas as requested. Not knowing the town that well, I declined the various offerings. I ended up renting a 10 year old condo instead! We do have some areas that are now up and coming, though reflecting pretty good prices.

You were right about the Haver's at 40th and Palm. We cruised through them today and then realized we had seen them before. I think Pix has some, well, pix of them on the site already. Anyhow they are great looking, just like the ones at Rose Lane and 14th street but are in decline. Very sketchy...
