Modern Garage Doors?

Postby IheartPHX on Sun Jul 03, 2011 2:40 pm

Anyone have a local suggestion for where to find a modern single car garage door? There are some decent offerings from Clopay and Martin (anyone prefer one company over another?) but we were hoping to find something more industrial/repurposed both in character- kind of what you would see in an old tune-up shops and would prefer to shop somewhere other than HomeDepot (where the Clopay & Martins are avail through)

Martin is considered the Cadillac of garage doors, Clopay is considered a bit lower end. Martin has details available (i.e. powder coating) that Clopay does not have.

We have Martin which is 2 years old and it is wonderful - either should be purchased when on sale at HD. If there is no sale today, wait a month and there will be.

Martin has a ridged door which looks somewhat industrial, and they also have an aluminum frame/glass door - but it is quite expensive.
Have read mixed reviews on the Clopay glass door.

Would be very hesitant to consider a repurposed commercial door - possible issues with balancing.
For every complex question there is a simple answer, and it is wrong.
