Hey all
I recently bought a MCM condo in Old Town Scottsdale. Most of the units in the complex have the standard security grille doors, complete with little scroll work or "Spanish" details. Originally the place had a wood door with a flimsy screen door over it. Both were in disrepair and have been removed--I installed a slab metal door with a deadbolt lock. Originally I thought I'd skip the security door altogether--though seemingly ubitquitous in older areas of Phoenix, they are uncommon in Oregon where I live and frankly are associated with sketchy neighborhoods. After spending some time in the condo I have to admit the security door would allow a nice crossbreeze for much of the year, so I am reconsidering it. Can anyone direct me to a source for doors that are simple and modern? I can't afford an expensive custom door. Any other ideas or comments are welcome--I'm open to alternatives as I still associate security doors with low income neighborhoods where they are a necessity and not a "feature"....do others feel this way or are they typical for AZ and I should get over it?
Thanks.
