Bike commuting thread

All discussion not related to our themes of Modernism, Contemporary Architecture and Design, Real Estate and development of Phoenix belongs here. Bike commuting thread

Check in here if you bike to work, school or whatever it is you do with yourself! I'd like to learn more about the modern phoenix demographic. :D

I'm a bike commuter, everyday I pedal into the UofA where I work, round trip is about 10 miles. It's great exercise and good for my carbon footprint. Who's with me?!

Working in the bike biz, you'd think I was on board with ya, BUT, good ol urban sprawl has that goal out of reach. I've found that "the sprawl" has the largest affect on Phoenician's decision to rely upon a 4 wheeled vehicle. Couple that with a lacking transit system and limited cycling resources, (i.e. adequate bike lanes, cycling conscience drivers, etc.) I can understand why so few do so......... :(

I live near downtown Phx and work in downtown Tempe. I bike the 10+ miles twice a week, and ride the light-rail other days. I still (alas) have a car which I use to run errands on the weekends, and the occasional odd unhappy day I do drive to work. I do this routine even in summer, but I have the good luck of having showers (and lockers and a repair shop) available at the amazing Bike Cellar http://www.thebicyclecellar.com/, where I park my bike.

I'd bike to work if there was a secure place to park my bike. I already had one stolen so I'm not to keen on leaving my new one for hours a time.
