I've recently come into the possession of the dining table my mother purchased here in Phoenix in the mid 70's. I'm trying to find out who the designer was. I'll post pictures later tonight , but for now I'll stick to a description, in the hopes someone can assist in identifying the piece.

It EXTREMELY similar to a Warren Platner design. It features chrome rods forming an oval pattern wide on the bottom, swooping inward so that it is smaller in the middle, and then wide again at the top. It came with a smoked glass oval tabletop, and a set of 4 chairs.

The Chairs are rust/orange colored and have the same chrome rods as the table, to form the circular base of the chair.

My mother had told me that they were custom built here in Phoenix. Anyone got any pointers on where I might look to try and find out who the designer is?

i don't know anything about it but cool table! i'd be interested in seeing a lower shot of the table base so i can understand how it is constructed better.

Here you go. A quick rundown: There are 2 oval rings of the same size for both the top and bottom of the base. In the Center is an oval band. All ribs are welded at the top and bottom to their respective rings. The Center band also appears to be welded to each rib. As you can see, it appears that the builder made a mistake on the end of the table, one of the ribs is not in it's intended location. He welded a "position 2" rib, to the "position 1" spot on the center ring.

Hope the additional pictures help you out.

i hate it when that happens. that would be a classic matthew move. either that or i would weld it partway and then get distracted and never finish it.

Since it's been a while, I'm hoping there are some new members who may be able to point me in the right direction. Still trying to figure out who the possible designer of this table and chairs are. These were purchased about 30 ago here in the Phoenix area.

Hmmm... I've got some similar chairs at home. I'll take a look later and post some pics if I can find any clues...

Here are my 2nd cousins to your chairs (pardon the cell pics.) A set of four were handed down to me by my grandmother when she noticed my wife and I were decorating our house with "neat old stuff." :D

A cursory googling states the company was based out of Compton, CA and was sold in '95 never to resurface. I couldn't find any associated designers, but it's a start...
