How to locate parcels of land by Quarter, Section, etc?

Postby PixelPixie on Thu Mar 04, 2010 1:52 pm

Help! How do I translate what I see below in a mortgage document into something I can pinpoint using GIS at http://www.maricopa.gov/assessor/gisPor ... portal.asp

This is a skill I really need to know! Is it doable online or do I have to go somewhere and crack open a book of maps?

Hmmm.... I'm assuming you have no address and haven't been to the property. I don't have windows explorer at home but I can try my contact at the county in the morning and see if she comes up with anything. Have you tried the assessors office?

http://www.maricopa.gov/Assessor/GIS/mapids.aspx

Use this (last option):
http://www.maricopa.gov/Assessor/GIS/MapFerret.aspx

That gives you this:
http://156.42.37.20/pdfs/798/798300000.pdf

Looks like it's parcel number: 506-36-085 but I'm a bit hesitant to say it is definitely that parcel.

OK good, I never noticed that "Book Map" option on the Assessor's site before. I use this portal all the time. Thanks!

That area you found is indeed in the neighborhood, I think. I suspected it was a ranch and it is.
