Photo Sharing Sites?

All discussion not related to our themes of Modernism, Contemporary Architecture and Design, Real Estate and development of Phoenix belongs here. Photo Sharing Sites?

Postby ranchogal on Fri May 09, 2008 2:04 pm

Hi all,
I recently completed a trip down south of the border, documenting shrines from Tucson to Magdalena, Sonora. I would like to upload some of these photos onto a photo sharing web site as opposed to emailing individual pics out to colleagues. I have a Mac and have used their hosting but am wondering if Flikr or another photo site would be easier and better.

Any opinions?
Thanks!

Flickr is an easy site to use. And it's free. Well....if you want to be able to post large files it costs around $30 a year. Totally worth it. I know a lot of people who use it. I find it is a nice place to share photos without viewers feeling like they have to buy something.

I'm a big fan of Google Picasa 2. It has a nice looking slide show feature than you can link directly to, without having to enter a password or create a user account.

I also like to use it to import the images directly from the camera to my desktop since it supports .raw format.

Well Picasa looks easy (I watched the tutorial). Loved the modphx churches, thanks for the link. Can I create an album and have a password for it? I want to label all these pictures so folks can see where I was. Or should I just forget the password and think that if someone in the universe got to the pictures, and likes them, then let them have them? I will be doing more research on these shrines and I admit I am a bit concerned about just throwing everything out into the universe so to speak. But as one of my girlfriends says about a blog I wrote last semester and my concerns about who would see it...."No one really cares! :)" Which I thought was a good comeback.

Under 'Album Properties, you can select 'Unlisted Album', for albums that you only want to share with select people.
