BATHROOM CABINETS

hey all - we are in need of floating bathroom cabinets. just want a simple modern flat front finish with no frills. we have a countertop that will be placed above. any ideas of where we can go for something relatively cheap with a pretty quick turnaround time (4 weeks or so?

we used IKEA upper cabinets as floating vanities. Cheap and quick (easy DIY), and with your own counter top and pulls, can look custom.

yah - i hadn't thought of the upper cabinets as floating. only considered the bigger floor cabinets. i'm slow, give me a break! i think that's what we'll do. what color cabinet did you chose? seems slightly limited...

so they are only ~12" deep? Can you post a pic, I'm curious...

We're still in the process of finishing the bathroom and will post pictures soon; but yes, they are 12 7/8" deep. This is mainly because we have a very narrow bathroom. To add some more counter depth, we mounted the cabinets to a 2x4 on the wall - so, along with the doors, our overall counter depth is closer to 16" .

If you have more room, you can also get deeper 'over the fridge' cabinets which are 24".

This did, however, require finding a smaller vanity sink (13") and custom counter tops (made by Cody)

what about this solution...

get the 24" deep cabinets and then cut a few inches off the back to make them the standard 20 inches or so?

That would work - for our situation we only had 16" to play with.

WOW!!! that looks WAAAAYY better than it sounded. How are you doing the detail of where the cabinet meets the 2x4 meets the wall? A metal "trim" strip? Again, very nice.

And yes, we planned using a trim strip down the side of the cabinetry where it meets the wall. (one drawback of plaster walls is that they are NEVER flat or level.

Hi Everyone:
I am planning on a bathroom cabinet installation almost exactly as pictured above. The only thing I would like to add is drawers...Any ideas? I plan on having two undermount sinks (in 18 inch wide cabinets with doors), and I would love to have two 12" banks of drawers. Thank you in advance for any input.
