Has anyone done a white quartz composite countertop?

Postby Lo on Fri Jul 23, 2010 2:52 pm

I had planned on doing this and as I get quotes I had a company/salesperson (owner and installer) trying strongly to steer me away from it. They wouldn't even give me a quote on Silestone white zeus. They almost grudgingly gave me quotes on a Zodiac and Cambria white. They say it's because it scratches and stains (and white really shows it) and because of that people are not happy with how it wears. One said they would install it but that I'd basically need to sign every disclaimer possible acknowledging that I'm aware it may look like crap with use/wear.
Has anyone had problems? Is it somehow more of a pain to install and that's why they don't want to sell it? Or does it really not wear well?

When did our kitchen rehab, we used one of the gray Caesarstone lines, but our kitchen guy said a lot of people love the white quartz. My neighbor used the same guy and got the white, they seem to love it. I used Elite Kitchen Concepts.

I put in Caesarstone Blizzard tops and absolutely love them. I got them through The Great Indoors. They have had everything from red wine, cranberry juice to pasta sauce sit on the overnight and can easily be scrubbed clean the next day. As far as scratches go, I find they are fairly resistant, I haven't had a problem with them at all, granted I feel like you should be as careful as you can and continue to take care as to not cut on them. I did scratch mine while cutting a loaf of bread once, but other than that have had no major issues.

I wouldn't see how it would be more of a pain to install? Possibly they are worried about their craftsmanship and making the seam unnoticeable. For the most part I was dissatisfied with the installation of mine, save for the seams. They actually turned out well.

If you have any questions let me know.

I have the Rosemary CaesarStone and "WISH" I had done the white! I was told by one place that I would tire of the white. Once you know how much feet you need. I would then call around to find out your best price. I saved if I remember correctly... over a $1000.

Thanks all! I've made some more calls. I think some fabricators are just more reluctant about working with white than others, not because of quality but because of difficulty. I've called a few more places and most have said it's just harder to fabricate and seam.
