Modern Front Door HELP!

Postby danz on Tue Jan 08, 2008 8:02 pm

I am remodeling my front exterior and am looking to replace my existing front door with a new hip modern door. Anyone have any ideas, my budget is around $1,000, my neighborhood is a 50's mid century neighborhood. Any help would be great!

They might be over your budget but they're very cool.

I love these door samples- I just wish they were like $700 or so.... Very cool.

I'm in need of a new door too and I loved the website you posted. Does anyone have any suggestions for someone who can install these doors? Also, I'm remodeling 2 bathrooms and any recommendations for those would be great too. Thanks

I have just the guy for you. He's a friend of mine and he did some work for 12below... she raved about him, and I back him up all the way. Send me a private message, and I'll send you his number.

Crestview Doors is the best--in style, & quality, however, the min you will spend is closer to $2,000. Honestly, as someone who has already been through this trek with my own house, you will be hard pressed to find a door under $1,500. But, as my husband justified it--it is worth spending a little more money, after all, it is the door that will keep you & all your posessions safe.

Looks like crestview is only doing kits? Or am I missing something?

Also, any referrals on installing a new door?

Thanks!

Would an exterior door be best for a handyman?

Try jeff or joe at arcadia door and window. They don't have midcentury modern doors per se, but i got a custom wide door from them, painted it red and had them add a great long silver door pull. Looks great. They are really easy to work with, and I have used them for other windows and doors too. They are my "go-to."

Also, just finishing two bathroom remodels, love my contractor, PM me for name and phone number.

I just found a great site with super cheap pricing for glass doors, both exterior and interior. Check out http://www.etodoors.com

Nice site! By far the cheapest I've seen the glass garage doors. Not sure on U-factor or weatherization on the entry doors.

One nice thing about Arcadia Window and Door is the level of customization (and offering of pivot doors of monstrous sizes if you need wider than 42"). I thought they were very reasonable on an aluminum 48" x 90" door (any dimensions possible) at $2,600--vs. about twice that for a Fleetwood door. Colors, hardware, glass type, sill, and frame width are all limitless options as they special order 4 custom pieces to put it all together.
